TraceTogether (TT) Token Distribution for Students by End March 2021

Dear Parents/ Guardians

As part of the nationwide effort to distribute TT tokens for the purposes of contact tracing, MOE will be facilitating the distribution of tokens to students who have not collected theirs from the Community Centres/Clubs (CCs) earlier during the national distribution exercise. The school distribution will be carried out by end March 2021. Kindly note that the replacement of existing/lost tokens will only be done at the CCs.

The school will issue a TT Token to your child/ward only if the Token Request Form (appended) is submitted to your child’s form teacher by 22 Feb 2021.

TT tokens collect data to facilitate contact tracing to keep us safe during this pandemic. Please note that if your child/ward has already been issued a TT Token as part of the national distribution exercise by Community Centres/Clubs (CCs), the school will not be issuing another TT Token to your child/ward.

For more information on the TraceTogether Privacy Safeguards, you may refer to the following website:

Should you have any queries, kindly contact Ms Khairunnisha at 6315 8616. We appreciate your support in this nationwide effort to keep Singapore safe. Thank you.

Information on CNY Celebration & 15th Anniversary Jogathon

Dear Parents/ Guardians

1. To ensure that this year’s Chinese New Year (CNY) Celebration on 11 February 2021 can be carried out safely for our students, it will comprise class-based activities and Safe Management Measures (SMM) will be observed. We would like to highlight key details below:

a. There will be no change in staggered reporting timings for lower and upper secondary students at 0740hrs and 0730hrs respectively. Staggered dismissal timings are as follows to reduce congestion.

b. Given the early dismissal, there will be no recess breaks. Students are strongly advised to have their breakfast before coming to school. They will also be allowed to bring a light snack for personal consumption in their respective classrooms on that day.

c. Students are also encouraged to wear red t-shirts with school skirt/shorts/trousers for the celebration. Alternatively, they would be expected to be in their school polo t-shirts or full school uniform.

2. It is the school’s tradition to give back to the Punggol community during this festive season. Each class has been requested to source for and donate some simple non-perishable food items and daily necessities to the residents of Bright Hill Evergreen Home. We would like to thank you for your support in advance for the elderly during these difficult times. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s/ward’s Class Mentor.

3. Lastly, the students will be making lanterns and cards as part of the Chinese New Year Celebration. It is hoped that this will also help strengthen students’ empathy for others, one of our core school values, as these items will also be sent to the residents of Bright Hill Evergreen Home to bring them added festive cheer.

4. Normal lessons will resume on 16 February (Tuesday). Please be reminded that 15 February (Monday) will be a school holiday.

5. We would also like to take this opportunity to update you on plans for our 15th Anniversary Jogathon. We were looking forward to the possibility of organising this annual running event in February, along Punggol Waterway as in previous years. We regret that we are unable to do so without clear improvements in the COVID-19 situation. Nonetheless, the school will continue to organise an internal sporting event – FITSPIRATION – on 12 March (Friday) for our students and staff. More details will be provided closer to the date of the event.

6. On behalf of the staff in Greendale Secondary, we wish you and your family a Joyous Chinese New Year holiday ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Ms Amy Ng

Arrangements for Release of 2020 O-Level Results on Mon 11 Jan 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians

MOE recently announced that the 2020 GCE O-Level results will released on 11 Jan 2021 (Monday) at 2.00 pm. As advised by MOE, Safe Management Measures (SMM) will need to be in place for the results release to proceed safely. To minimise intermingling between the school’s student population and candidates receiving their results, as well as facilitate other SMM such as screening, temperature-taking, and decentralised results release, Secondary 1 and 2 students will be dismissed earlier on 11 Jan. Details are as follows:

  • Secondary 1 students will be dismissed at 1 pm.
  • Secondary 2 students will be dismissed at 1.10 pm.

The staggered dismissal of students will help minimise congestion at bus-stops and public spaces near the school.

Lessons for Secondary 3, 4 & 5 students will end according to the timings reflected in their respective timetables. We also hope to encourage our Secondary 4/5 students by arranging for them to view the segment on the 2020 cohort’s overall results in their respective lesson venues.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Loh Chih Hui

Arrangements for School Re-opening in Phase Three (From 4 Jan 2021)

Dear Parents/ Guardians

Schools will re-open in 2021 with Safe Management Measures (SMM) such as temperature-taking, visual screening of students and reducing congestion where possible. As we prepare to welcome all our students back to school on 4 January 2021, we look forward to the collective efforts of all parents and students to exercise social responsibility so that our school will remain safe.

As COVID-19 has been an unprecedented crisis that has placed additional stress on students, the 2021 edition of our Start Right Programme aims to provide more opportunities for our students to share their thoughts and emotions, as well as reconnect with their peers and teachers.

For more details on the SMM to be observed (including staggered reporting/dismissal times), and our 2021 Start Right Programme, please refer to the attached letter. The Annex provides information on our 2021 classroom layout. For 4-8 January 2021, new Secondary 1 students should follow the Orientation programme shared on our school’s Secondary 1 microsite.

You can also look forward to our Term 1 Information Sheet, which will be disseminated on 4 January 2021, for further information on key events/activities in Term 1, CCA, and learning matters, in addition to other updates.

Thank you for your support and wishing all in the Greendale Family a happy and healthy 2021 ahead!

Enhanced Subsidies for Childhood Vaccinations

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of the Ministry of Health’s (MOH’s) efforts to better protect Singaporean children from vaccine preventable diseases, full subsidies will be provided for vaccinations recommended under the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS) at Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) GP clinics and polyclinics with effect from November 2020.

For more details (including recommended vaccinations), please refer to the following attachments: (i)  HPB Letter with enclosed FAQs; and (ii) Parents Booklet.

Besides the above option, the School Health Service (SHS) will continue to conduct annual school health visits to provide school-based health screening and immunisation services for primary and secondary school students. SHS also administers the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to female students in secondary schools.

It is important that students receive the recommended vaccinations to reduce the risk of infections and complications that can result from the infections. Vaccinations also reduce the risk of outbreaks occurring in school and in the community.

Thank you for your support.

Sale of School Uniforms, Textbooks & Purchase of Sports Shoes in School

[ UPDATE: As of 30 December 2020, we regret to inform and sincerely apologize that the school shoes supplier is facing issues with the new shipment. We will inform all parties accordingly and promptly once they arrive. ]

Dear Parents/ Guardians

With reference to the sale of school uniforms, textbooks and purchase of sports shoes (click here for the respective information/sale schedule by class, and here for the booklists), the school encourages the purchase of textbooks and school uniforms online. However, we note that there would be some parents/ guardians who prefer to purchase them in school.

As such, with the Nationwide Safe Management Measures (SMM) in placed, students and parents are to comply with them. Please take note of the following procedures:

1. Only 1 parent is allowed to escort their child/ ward during the book/uniform purchase in school.

2. Upon clearing the SMM process (i.e. temperature-taking and SafeEntry check in) at the Guard Counter, the parent/ child is to proceed to the nearby Token Counter to obtain a “purchase slot” (collect either a book or uniform purchase token) in order to proceed with the book/uniform purchase at the respective venues;

2.1. Upon purchase completion of either school books or uniform, the parent/ child MUST return/exchange the existing purchase token with another at the Token Counter, in order to proceed with the next purchase at the other venue.

3. Please note that, at any given point of time, up to 40 people is allowed at a purchase venue;

3.1. The school reserves the right to hold/refuse entry to the purchase venue, should the allotted number of people exceeds that number (based on the number of tokens available at the Token Counter).

4. The allotted purchase slot will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

5. Please SHOW the purchase token to the sales vendor at the purchase venue. The sales vendor will ask for it. You will not be allowed to purchase either school books or uniform without showing it to the vendor as proof.

6. Upon completion of the purchase, the purchase token MUST be returned to the Token Counter before leaving the school premises.

[For Graduating Cohort] Arrangements for the Release of 2020 GCE N-/O-Level Examination Results

Dear Parents,

MOE and SEAB have recently announced arrangements for the release of results for the 2020 national examinations to safeguard the well-being of students and staff (pls refer to: https://go.gov.sg/resultsrelease2020).

Safe Management Measures –

The key arrangements are:

(a) Students are expected to comply with Safe Management Measures in schools.

(b) Collection of results will be done in smaller groups in classrooms.

Please note that only students will be allowed to enter the school to collect their results. We will provide more details on the arrangement closer to the respective results release dates.

Students who are unwell, on Quarantine Order, Stay-Home Notice or Leave of Absence on the results release day should not return to school to collect their results, and should view their results online instead. In this case, students who are unable to collect their results in school may appoint someone to collect the physical copy of the results, and the Joint Admissions Exercise Form, Polytechnic Foundation Programme form or Joint Intake Exercise form on their behalf within 3 working days (inclusive of the day of results release). If they are unable to do so, they can contact the school for assistance.

Online access to results –

In addition, all students will be able to view their results for the 2020 national examinations online, via SEAB’s results release system on the day of the respective national examination’s results release.

Students who are eligible for SingPass should login to the results release system via their SingPass. Students not eligible for SingPass will receive a system-generated password from SEAB closer to the results release day. More information on how to access the system will be made available on SEAB’s website in November 2020.

MOE and SEAB will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and provide updates if there are further changes to the arrangements for the release of results for this year’s national examinations.

Thank you and stay safe!

Travel Declaration for Year-End Holidays

Dear Parent/Guardian,

MOH has advised Singapore residents to defer all forms of travel overseas, except for general travel to an evolving list of countries/regions where the virus situation is well under control and the risk of importation is low, as well as under other special circumstances.

To ensure schools continue to be a healthy and safe environment for all, we require parents/guardians to make a travel declaration only if your child/ward intends to travel for the year-end holidays. NIL returns are not required.

Please declare your child/ward’s travel plans for the year-end holidays by 30 Oct (Friday). We encourage you to do so via the Parents Gateway app (refer to https://pg.moe.edu.sg). If you do not have access to Parents Gateway, you can declare your travel by using this link. If your child/ward is travelling, please indicate clearly both the country and city of travel. Only one parent is required to declare.

In planning your travel, please refer to the attached advisory on travelling. If there is a change of travel plans after declaration, please inform the school directly rather than through Parents’ Gateway.

Thank you for your partnership and support to keep our school safe.

[For Graduating Cohort] Additional Information for National Examination Candidates

Dear Parents/ Guardians

Further to the instructions issued on 21 August 2020 (shared via PG and school blog), SEAB has provided additional information on appropriate steps for candidates to take if they become unwell with flu-like symptoms prior to and during the national examination period.

As previously communicated, MOE will make swab test arrangements for candidates placed on LOA (HQO).

For candidates on medical leave due to ARI, they should seek medical attention at the relevant venues based on the dates provided. We would like to highlight that once the examinations have begun (i.e. 11 September for N-Levels, and 16 October for O-Levels), candidates should proceed to proceed to polyclinics as advised by SEAB.

While awaiting swab test results, candidates must stay at home. Special consideration will be applied for candidates who are unable to sit for papers due to ARI/awaiting their swab test results.

Please click here for details.

We have engaged our Secondary 4/5 students on the additional information ahead of Graduation Day on 2 October 2020 (Friday). Your continued support is sought to help ensure that your child/ward practices good personal hygiene, social responsibility and takes good care of their health – so that they have smooth sailing for the examinations ahead.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

[For Graduating Cohort] Safeguarding the well-being of candidates for National Examinations

Dear parents and students,

To safeguard the well-being of candidates and teachers and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, safe management measures will be implemented in schools during the national examinations.

The following groups of candidates will not be allowed to sit for the national examinations due to potential public health risks:

•       Confirmed case of Covid-19 Infection;

•       On Quarantine Order;

•       On Stay Home Notice;

•       On Leave of Absence (Confirmed); and

•       Display flu-like symptoms (such as fever or coughing) on the day of examinations.

Specific groups of candidates will be allowed to sit for the national examinations if they have been tested negative for COVID-19.  Enhanced safe management measures will be implemented for this group.

Please click here for SEAB’s instructions or visit SEAB’s website (https://seab.gov.sg) for more information.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents that the 2020 GCE O-Level Mid-Year MTL exam results will be released on Mon 24 Aug at 2.30pm. In view of Covid-19, this will be decentralised in classrooms instead of school hall. Once again, we regret not being able to allow family members to join us for the results release this year due to safety measures. Special arrangements have been made for students taking EL Oral Exams on 24 Aug pm to receive their results immediately after their exam.

To ensure that they fully understand the examination arrangements and the importance of taking responsibility for their health / minimise exposure to any transmission risks, we will be further engaging our graduating students on the national exam instructions on 28 Aug morning.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Unveiling of Greendale Secondary 15th Anniversary Logo

Dear Parents/ Guardians

We will be celebrating our 15th Anniversary in 2021.

In commemoration of this special occasion, the school has designed the 15th Anniversary logo with inputs from our students through a logo design competition. We are proud to present you the Greendale Secondary 15th Anniversary logo:

About the Logo

The 15th Anniversary Logo is a culmination of design concepts and elements from students’ winning entries of the Greendale Logo Design competition.

The overall design concept depicts coming together to forge one stronger entity. The continuous, seamless shape that forms the letters ‘G’ and ‘D’, represents Greendale and resembles the infinity symbol. This signifies the school’s continuous strive towards excellence. The two contrasting colours of the logo depict the different pathways to success. Gaps within the infinity symbol represent the challenges faced along the journey and the resilience to Serve and Lead. The number ‘15’ marks the school’s 15th Anniversary.

The number ‘1’ with a dot above it, forms a human-like figure leaping upwards, progressing and rising above life’s challenges.
