Our very first Young Mathematician @GreendaleSec was launched in January 2018, opened to this year’s Sec 2 cohort. Students, from the Express and Normal Streams, were selected and invited to join the programme based on their Secondary 1 Overall Mathematics results in 2017.
Kickstarting the Young Mathematician programme, was an original “Escape Room” challenge designed by our Mathematics Department. On 23 January 2018, Young Mathematicians in training were tasked with solving a series of Olympiad questions which would eventually lead them to the key to escape their classroom.
It was heartening to see students display perseverance, teamwork and creativity!
“It was interesting! I initially thought it may be boring but it turned out to be challenging. It required a lot of teamwork and thinking.” – Vidhi, 2E2
“It was challenging but fun. I liked the challenge! I enjoyed the thrill of being locked up and having to escape by solving maths questions.” – Amanda, 2E5
“The escape room was fun and interesting!” – Kah Hang, 2E3

Our 2017 cohort of Secondary 4 Express students have achieved many firsts for the School @GreendaleSec at the 2017 GCE O Level examinations!
We have our first straight A1 student, Fanny Xueqi Or, and more than 15% of our students achieved at least 4 distinctions. We also celebrate the good performance of our Secondary 5 Normal Academic students.
Congratulations to our 2017 cohort for their fine performance at the O levels! And a special mention of thanks to the Year Head, the Form and Subject Teachers, of the said batch who travelled alongside them in their journey.

We are proud to announce that, out of the 136 school unit entries, the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) @GreendaleSec has retained the Gold Award, at the NPCC Unit Overall Proficiency Award 2017!
It is awarded by assessing the overall performance of NPCC school units in an academic year. All NPCC Units are encouraged to participate in the assessment process.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, for their passionate commitment and efforts in the pursuit of Character Development excellence! In the words of the School Principal, Ms Amy Ng:
“It is most encouraging to see the NPCC students, past and present, coming together for their CCA and its achievements. We must believe that they will carry that great sense of belonging, commitment and excellence in all that they do, today, tomorrow and into the future.“
The School @GreendaleSec welcomed the 2018 Secondary 1 cohort on Tuesday, 2 January 2018. By 7.20 AM, 320 Secondary 1 students had reported and were ushered in to the school hall for their very first morning assembly.
The School’s Principal, Ms Amy Ng, welcomed the new Secondary 1 cohort, shared the school’s mission and rallied the new students towards the realisation of the school’s vision of Committed Learners, Critical Thinkers and Confident Leaders.
Following the morning welcome, the student leaders led the Secondary 1 students through ice-breaking activities, to get them to know their new classmates. Here are some snapshots of the day’s session:

The 2017 N level cohort performed well in the GCE N level exams!
The Secondary 4N results were the best in Greendale’s history, with 17.3% (as compared to the national average of 10%) eligible for Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP).
79.5% of students were eligible for the Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP), and 83.5% were promoted to Secondary 5 (as compared to the national average of 76.6%).
This is a result of the hard work of the students, Year Head and teachers.
Together as the Family @GreendaleSec, we were able to achieve this set of fantastic results, and many of our students have excellent post-secondary options. We look forward to many more good years ahead!
The School Green Awards (SGA), organised by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), is a self-audited voluntary environmental programme which serves as a platform for students to develop and showcase their environmental efforts, through customised activities which will help them gain better understanding of the environment.
As the title sponsor of SGA for the second year of the SGA, StarHub Limited aims to further environmental outreach efforts to all schools across Singapore.
We are pleased to share, that the School @GreendaleSec has been awarded the Lotus Award at the SEC-StarHub SGA 2017!
Every year, submissions come from preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, international schools, schools for students with special needs and institutes of higher learning. SGA also receives submissions from schools overseas. In 2017, we continue to focus on the role of advocacy by students, who are required to initiate and lead their own environmental outreach project.
Based on the audits submitted, together with random site visits by SEC, schools qualify for one of four awards – the Palm, Hibiscus, Orchid, and the top level Lotus Award. Schools which receive the Lotus Award for at least three consecutive times will attain the Lotus Sustained Achievement Award. Preschools will be in running for the Daisy Award, with the similarly structured Daisy Sustained Achievement Award.
